Leafsdown

The Leafsdown Federation is a low-flying archipelago of islands whose Skystone reserves are charged in such a way as to make the islands fly faster than most. Leafsdown is known as a center of trade because its swift movements mean that it is constantly moving past the other, slower islands, speeding up the process of shipping goods to and from other countries. The government of Leafsdown encourages trade further through very generous subsidies, low tariffs, and a fairly free market environment. The tax revenue from increased trade in turn supports the large bureaucracy that forms the government. While some say that the Leafsdownian administration is money-grubbing, none can deny the effectiveness of their model.

While there is no official religion in Leafsdown (a measure put in place to appeal to adherents of any faith), the most popular deity in the country is Ichiba, god of trade and marketplaces. Most shops in Leafsdown will have a small shrine to Ichiba, and markets take an unofficial holiday on the holy days of the church of Ichiba. Demographically, Leafsdown is primarily composed of halflings, humans, and dwarves, along with a small population of tieflings and a diaspora of dragonborn merchants. Leafsdown residents pride themselves on being hardier than most folk due to the high winds that constantly whip through the islands. This sentiment is reflected in the national motto: “Weathering where others would fall.”
